In 2006, Pedcor broke ground on Carmel City Center, a mixed-use development, in a public/private partnership with the City of Carmel. The concept for this project dates back years with the Carmel City Council, Pedcor Companies, and the Mayor’s vision of creating a new downtown for Carmel. The last two buildings of this vision are set to be completed next year.
Carmel City Center
Many years ago, the corner of City Center Drive and Range Line Road was the site of an abandoned strip mall with a dilapidated Kroger grocery store. Now, it has been transformed into Carmel City Center! In 2004, the plans for Carmel City Center were unveiled and approved; and in 2005, the financing for the adjacent Center for The Performing Arts was approved by the Carmel City Council. The ground was broken for the construction of Carmel City Center in 2006.
There are 50+ shops, dining, and personal services as well as apartments and condos in Carmel City Center. The Wedgwood, The Gainsborough, The Wyatt, The Nash, The Baldwin & Chambers and The Hamilton buildings currently make up the collection known as The Residences at Carmel City Center. The Residences at The Playfair in Carmel City Center and The Kent at Carmel City Center are additional apartment buildings that are also a part of Carmel City Center. As Carmel City Center continues to expand, the collection will be completed with the addition of The Wren and The Winsor.
The Wren and Windsor represent the final two buildings and will complete Carmel City Center. Both are mixed-use buildings and will provide studio, one, two, and three-bedroom apartment floorplans on the upper levels with retail and office space on the main floors. The Wren will have multiple levels and is situated adjacent to The Hotel Carmichael and alongside the Windsor building. The Windsor, complete with a private, underground resident parking garage, is located on the Monon Trail, directly across from Carter Green. The buildings are anticipated to open in 2024.
